Wilmington Teen In Court After Arrest In Bomb Threat Case

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis have announced that an arraignment which was scheduled for today for a juvenile from Wilmington who faces charges of a bomb/hijack threat (2 counts) and threatening to commit a crime (2 counts) has been continued to Wednesday, June 24.

Authorities say during an investigation into a bomb threat case in Rockford, Michigan, they traced Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to residences in Massachusetts where the Wilmington teenager has been living.

The threats against schools in Michigan began on October 24, 2014 and continued until January 16, 2015. It is alleged this defendant used email, voice calls, robotic sounding or digitized voice calls, and Twitter accounts to threaten students in the Rockford School District.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This case has been investigated by the Wilmington Police Department, the FBI, and the Kent County Sheriff’s Department in Michigan.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Barnes.
