Wayland Home Invasion Suspect Arraigned

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that John Monahan, 21, of Wayland, was arraigned today in Framingham District Court on charges of assault and battery and breaking and entering in the nighttime with the intent to commit a felony.

Clerk Magistrate Sean Coleman set bail at $1000 cash with conditions to include that Monahan stay away from the victim and the victim’s residence, possess no weapons, use no alcohol and no drugs and submit to random screens. The next court hearing in Monahan’s case is scheduled for Monday, June 29.

On Sunday, June 14, the Wayland Police Department responded to a call from a woman who said a man had entered her home on West Plain Street, grabbed her, and then fled when she screamed. Monahan was arrested on June 17 after arriving at the WaylandPolice station to turn himself in.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to the hearing today was Assistant District Attorney Susan Harris.
