Waltham Man Indicted On Murder Charge In Death Of Wife

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced today that a Middlesex County Grand Jury has indicted Julio Resto, 51, of Waltham on charges of first degree murder and assault by means of a dangerous weapon (7 counts). Resto will continue to be held without bail until his arraignment at 11am on Tuesday, March 3.

“Those who loved Gloria Resto will be mourning her loss for the rest of their lives," said District Attorney Ryan. "They are still shaken to the core to think that her violent death was allegedly at the hands of her own husband. It is difficult to grapple with why a life such as hers was taken when she brought so much joy into the lives of others."

"The Waltham Police Department is pleased to learn of an indictment in this case," said Waltham Police Chief Keith MacPherson. "Detectives will continue to work closely with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office as the case proceeds in the court system to see that justice is served in connection with this brutal murder."

According to authorities, Julio Resto arrived at the Waltham police station at approximately 5:17 a.m., December 31, and began banging on the door to the dispatch area. Officers say Resto was holding a knife in his hand which appeared to have blood on it. Officers say when they tried to place Resto under arrest, he walked toward them with the knife and he had to be subdued with a less lethal force weapon.

When authorities arrived at Resto's home, 204 Clocktower Drive, they entered unit # 6113, and found his wife, Gloria Resto, 42, deceased.

This case is being investigated by Waltham Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Nicole Allain. The Victim Witness Advocate assigned to this case is Anne Foley.
