Victim of Apparent Homicide in Shirley Identified

SHIRLEY - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Shirley Chief of Police Samuel Santiago have confirmed the identity of the victim of an apparent homicide in Shirley as William Hatch, 69 of Shirley.

On Monday, August 23, 2021, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Shirley Police and Fire responded to the area of Groton Road for a 911 call reporting a medical emergency. Upon arrival, officers located William Hatch, the resident and sole occupant of the home, dead inside. The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim had suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police assigned to that office and the Shirley Police Department. 

At this time, no one has been charged in connection with this incident.
