Update: Fatal Shooting in Woburn Remains Under Investigation

Victim Identified, Man Charged

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Woburn Chief of Police Robert Rufo have confirmed that the fatal shooting that occurred today in Woburn is still actively under investigation at this time.

At approximately 3:40 a.m. today, Woburn Police responded to a Washington Street home for a report of a disturbance.  Upon arrival, police located two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  One of the males, later identified as, Mussie Nirayo, 22 of Cambridge, was pronounced dead on scene.  The other male, identified as Tyler Olivier, 26 of Woburn, was transported to an area hospital.  The motive for this incident and whether or not these two men were known to each other, remains under investigation.

Tyler Olivier has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  He is expected to be arraigned tomorrow in Woburn District Court.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to that office and Woburn Police.

The prosecutors assigned to this case are Graham Van Epps and Jacob McCrindle. The Victim Witness Advocate is Anne Foley.
