Two Arrested In Connection With January 3 Everett Murder

WOBURN – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Chief of Police Steven A. Mazzie have announced that two men have been charged in connection with the January 3, 2016 fatal shooting of 19-year-old Omar Wilfredo Reyes in Everett.

“Today’s arrest is a testament to the dedication of the investigators assigned to this case,” said District Attorney Ryan. “As a result, these defendants have been apprehended and charged in connection with the murder of Mr. Reyes."

State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Everett Police today arrested Jose Vasquez Ardon, 17, of Everett, and Cristian Nunez-Flores, 17, of Everett. Ardon was arrested in Revere and Nunez-Flores was arrested in Malden.  The Revere and Malden Police Departments assisted in the apprehension of the suspects. Each has been charged with one count of murder and both will be arraigned on Monday, February 1, in Malden District Court. These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

“I am extremely proud of the work of the Everett Police investigators who worked diligently with members of the State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. They followed up on all leads and built a case that identified the suspects in this violent crime. Members of the community can sleep better knowing these individuals are off our streets,” added Chief Mazzie.

On January 3 at approximately 12:20 a.m., Everett Police responded to a report of an injured man under the Tileston Street Bridge behind Carter Street in Everett. Upon arrival police found that the man was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and he died from his injuries at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4.

The prosecutors assigned to this case are Assistant District Attorney Beth Dunigan and Assistant District Attorney Carrie Spiros.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Kristen Chamberlain.
