Teenagers Sentenced In Death Of Waltham Man

WOBURN– Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Police Chief Keith MacPherson have announced that Joshua Greaves, 16, Anthony Lowe 16, and Samuel Villanueva-Iglesias, 17,  pleaded guilty to charges and were sentenced on August 12, 2015 in connection with the death of Thierry Tullus in Waltham. Tullus was found dead on Overland Road on August 20, 2014.

“Through their pleas of guilty, the defendants have accepted responsibility for the death of Thierry Tullus,” said District Attorney Ryan.  “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr. Tullus who have suffered an unbearable loss.”

“I would like to thank the agencies involved in bringing this matter to resolution,” said Waltham Police Chief Keith Mac Pherson.  “It is only through the cooperation of these many agencies that we can bring about justice to these senseless crimes.”

Greaves, Lowe, and Villanueva-Iglesias, were each indicted by a Middlesex County Grand Jury on charges of manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and armed robbery in connection with the death of Thierry Tullus, 34, of Waltham.

On June 30, 2015 Greaves pleaded guilty to charges at a hearing in Cambridge Juvenile Court and on August 12 was sentenced by Judge Kenneth J. King.  On the manslaughter charge, Greaves was committed to the custody of the Department of Youth Services until age 21, on the armed robbery charge Greaves was given a 2-3 year state prison sentence suspended during a probationary period of ten years which will commence on his 21st birthday, concurrent with a sentence of ten years probation on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

On August 12, 2015, Lowe pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced.  Judge Kenneth J. King committed Lowe to the custody of the Department of Youth Services until age 21 on the manslaughter charge, sentenced Lowe to ten years probation to commence at age 21 on the armed robbery charge and on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

On August 12, 2015 Villanueva-Iglesias pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced.  Judge Kenneth J. King committed Villanueva-Iglesias to the custody of the Department of Youth Services until age 21 on the manslaughter charge, sentenced Villanueva-Iglesias to ten years probation to commence at age 21 on the armed robbery charge and on the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

On August 18, 2014, Tullus did not return home after work. On August 20 Waltham Police found the body of Tullus in his car on Overland Road in Waltham.   He had been beaten and robbed.

This incident was investigated by the Waltham Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
