Suspects In Lowell Armed Home Invasion Arraigned

WOBURN – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Christopher Covey, 46, of Groveland, and Timothy Berry, 48, of Haverhill, were arraigned today in Lowell District Court in connection with an alleged armed home invasion that took place on Saturday, February 6 in Lowell.

Berry is charged with armed home invasion and assault with a dangerous weapon. Covey is charged with armed home invasion.

Judge Michael Brooks ordered the defendants held without bail pending a 58Adangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday, February 12.

“The defendants in this case allegedly attempted to disguise themselves as police officers before forcing their way into the victims’ home creating a dangerous and volatile situation, which could have resulted in tragic consequences including loss of life,” said District Attorney Ryan.

At approximately 8:15 p.m.  Lowell Police responded to a report of a home invasion on Pine Hill Street in Lowell. Upon arrival Berry allegedly pointed a gun at a Lowell Police Officer who then fired several shots striking the defendant twice. Berry was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries and discharged on February 8.
