Suspect Arraigned In Ayer For Attempted Murder After Fleeing To Ohio

WOBURN – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that KevenBlakemore, 21, of Boxborough was arraigned in Ayer District Court today on charges of armed assault with intent to commit murder, aggravated rape, armed kidnapping with sexual assault, armed kidnapping causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed robbery, and mayhem.

Judge Elizabeth Cremens held the defendant without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday, September 11. 

On August 22, 2015 the Boxborough Police Department were notified by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio that there was an individual in their jurisdiction who was reporting he and his girlfriend had been assaulted in their apartment Boxborough.  Officers responded to the apartment on Swanson Road in Boxborough and found physical evidence of what appeared to be a violent crime at the scene.  The scene was secured pending a search warrant which was later executed.  During the ensuing investigation it was determined that Blakemore had assaulted both his brother and a female inside the apartment, then drove them to Ohio where he was apprehended by Pike County officers. Blakemore waived extradition on Monday, August 31 and returned to Massachusetts on Wednesday, September 2. 

“This was a vicious crime in which the victims were allegedly taken against their will to Ohio,” said District Attorney Ryan. “The collaborative efforts of our Office with our law enforcement partners have resulted in the defendant’s being returned to Massachusetts to stand trial for these charges.”

Boxborough Police Chief Warren B. Ryder added, "This suspect's alleged actions are shocking, and we are very proud of the work done by our counterparts in Ohio and our Boxborough Police Detectives who investigated this case. I am grateful that the suspect has been returned to Massachusetts and will face very serious charges."

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
