North Reading Woman Identified in Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash

NORTH READING - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and North Reading Chief of Police Michael Murphy have confirmed the identity of the victim from this morning's fatal motor vehicle crash as Marianne Quam, 70, of North Reading.

Today, at approximately 6:28 a.m., North Reading Police responded to a 911 call for a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of 270 Main Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that a pedestrian had been struck by an SUV on her way to work at the Stop and Shop located across the street. Ms. Quam was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, North Reading Police Department and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section assigned to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's office.
