LOWELL – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced that Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Edward Kim has been presented the first Elizabeth “Deb” Barnes Award from the Greater Lowell Bar Association in recognition of his “outstanding contribution to the administration of justice with compassion, understanding and fortitude.”

The award is presented in memory of former Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Barnes who died in a plane crash in 2020.

“Ed is the perfect recipient of this award.  Not only did he work closely with Liz when she was in the office, but he shares her commitment to both fair prosecution and to looking beyond the traditional day-to-day of the courtroom to ensure that justice is done in a way that benefits the community as a whole,” said District Attorney Ryan. “Ed is a leader, and as a supervisor in the Lowell District Court he routinely helps guide and teach new prosecutors in the Office.”

The award was presented on June 7, 2022 at the Greater Lowell Bar Association Annual Dinner.
