Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan Welcomes 2014 Class of New Asst. DAs

WOBURN– Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan today announced that 22 new Assistant District Attorneys have joined the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office as part of the Fall 2014 class.

Sixteen new ADAs have been assigned to district courts throughout Middlesex County, including Ayer, Cambridge, Framingham, Lowell, Malden, Somerville and Woburn. These lawyers will add needed staffing to an office that handles more than 30,000 cases each year.

Six ADAs join the Appeals and Training Bureau, which is responsible for matters before the Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court. These lawyers also assist police officers in drafting and obtaining search warrants.

“We welcome this diverse and multi-talented class of Assistant District Attorneys to the office and to the courts, which are the hub of our county’s criminal justice system,” said District Attorney Ryan. “This group brings experience from both public and private sectors. Many have interned with us and others have clerked and volunteered in this area. It is wonderful to see so many talented young lawyers committed to public service.”

The new ADAs are:

  • David Bastian, of Boston, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau
  • Julianne Campbell, of Norton, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Lowell District Court
  • Tiffany Castillo, of  Central Falls, RI, graduated from Boston College Law School and is assigned to Woburn District Court
  • Alvah (AJ) Chalifour, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Woburn District Court
  • Cyrus Chung, of Westwood, graduated from Harvard Law School and is assigned to Cambridge District Court
  • Kevin Collins, of Lexington, graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law and is assigned to Framingham District Court
  • Eric Haskell, of Hingham, graduated from Columbia Law School and is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau
  • Siobhan Kelly, of Brighton, graduated from New England School of Law-Boston is assigned to Somerville District Court
  • David Kete, of Somerville, graduated from Boston College Law School and is assigned to Ayer District Court
  • Asher Kim, of Cambridge, graduated from Harvard Law School and is assigned to Waltham District Court
  • Charles Koech, of Boston, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Malden District Court
  • Dylan Krasinski, of Boston, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Malden District Court
  • Randall Maas, of Cambridge, graduated from Harvard Law School and is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau.
  • Thomas Maxim, of Roxbury, graduated from Northeastern University School of Law and is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau
  • Elizabeth May, of Billerica, graduated from Northeastern University School of Law, is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau.
  • Jacob McCrindle, of Brookline, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Cambridge District Court.
  • Megan McGovern, of Boston, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Lowell District Court.
  • Robert Meltzer, of Needham, graduated from Boston College Law School and is assigned to Lowell District Court.
  • Nicole Nixon, of Chelsea, graduated from University of Massachusetts School of Law and is assigned to the Appeals & Training Bureau.
  • Ryan Rall, of Allston, graduated from Northeastern University School of Law, and is assigned to Somerville District Court
  • Batool Raza, of Boston, graduated from Suffolk University Law School and is assigned to Framingham District Court
  • Sandra Weisberger, of Newton, graduated from Boston College Law School and assigned to Framingham District Court.

    District Attorney Ryan was appointed in April 2013 by Governor Deval Patrick.  A dedicated public servant, District Attorney Ryan has spent her entire career with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, previously serving as General Counsel and chief of the Elder/Disabled Abuse Prevention Unit. She is known for her prosecutorial skills and her courtroom experience having tried thousands of cases, and for dedication to victims, education, and violence prevention. District Attorney Ryan has fought to protect the elderly and developmentally disabled who have been taken advantage of financially or physically abused and leads programs for school and college educators and administrators about safety, Title IX obligations, and strategies to prevent bullying of vulnerable students.
