Medford Man Accused In Animal Cruelty Case In Court Today

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that in Somerville District Court at a pretrial hearing today, Judge Maurice Flynn scheduled the next court hearing for Ryan Baker, 31, of Medford for Tuesday, July 14. Baker faces charges of animal cruelty (3 counts).

On March 18, bail was set for Baker at $1000 cash with conditions to include that Baker have no contact with the individual who has alleged that Baker has been seen abusing a dog and that Baker have no contact with animals or pets during the time this case remains open.

The Medford Police Department says a man came to the station on Sunday, March 15, to report animal cruelty committed allegedly by his neighbor, Ryan Baker. The man provided law enforcement with several video images reportedly showing Baker abusing a dog.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Medford Police Department is investigating this case and has received support from the Medford Animal Control Office and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Ryan Rall.
