Man Charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl and Oxycodone Following Investigation into Fatal Overdoses in Waltham

WALTHAM – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Kevin O’Connell have confirmed that Jourdan Henderson, 35 of Boston, has been charged with possession with intent to distribute  fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone following an investigation into two fatal overdoses that occurred in Waltham.

On April 7, 2024, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Waltham Police responded to a Lexington Street apartment complex for the report of an apparent overdose of two individuals. Upon arrival at the scene police located two adult men dead inside the apartment.  A white powdery substance was also located on scene, a field test of the substance tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.

As part of the ongoing investigation into this matter detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and the Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force conducted a forensic analysis of the men’s phones and were able to identify numerous text messages consistent with drug activity where the conversations were allegedly organizing deals and discussing payments as recently as the morning of the fatal overdoses.

Police subsequently arranged to meet the defendant under the guise of purchasing illicit  narcotics. During the meeting police allegedly located nine oxycodone pills, approximately seven grams of a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl-laced cocaine, approximately $2,500 in cash, and materials consistent with drug packaging and distribution including a scale and baggies.

Henderson was arraigned in Waltham District court and ordered held on $1,000 bail.  The next date in this case is May 30, 2024.
