Man Charged In Human Remains Case Arraigned On Murder Charge

WOBURN - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Carlos Colina, 32, of Cambridge was arraigned today on a charge of murder. Middlesex District Court Judge J. Michele Hogan ordered Colina held without bail on this charge and scheduled the next hearing for Colina for Wednesday, May 13.

On Monday, April 6, Colina was arraigned on charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and improper disposal of a body. On April 6, a judge set bail for Colina on those charges at $1 million cash and also revoked bail for Colina in an open case. Colina was arrested on Saturday, April 4, after human remains were found at two locations, inside the building where he lived, and in his neighborhood outside along a public path. The remains were identified as belonging to one individual, Jonathan Camilien, 26, of Somerville.

Authorities say Camilien and the suspect were known to each other. Prior to his arrest on April 4, Colina had and still has an open criminal case in Middlesex County in which he is charged with assault and battery. The alleged victim in that incident is not the victim in this case. These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Nicole Allain. The Victim Witness Advocate is Alyssa Donovan.
