Malden Man Guilty For Murder of Girlfriend

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced today that a Malden man has been convicted by a jury of first degree murder for the 2012 death of his long-term girlfriend.

William Bryant Moseley, 47, of Malden, was found guilty by a Middlesex Superior Court jury of first degree murder.  Middlesex Superior Court Judge Kathe Tuttman has scheduled sentencing for May 13, 2014.

“This defendant strangled his girlfriend of many years in their home, a place where she should have felt safe,” District Attorney Ryan said.  “Domestic violence is about power and control and strangulation is a very personal act by an abuser who wants to show they have the power of life and death in their hands.  This defendant perceived that he was losing control and attacked his girlfriend in a rage, and has now been held accountable for his actions.”

According to authorities, at approximately 5:15 am on August 10, 2012 the defendant made a 911 call asking that police respond to his home at 33 Francis Street.  During that call, the defendant told authorities that he had killed his wife.  When officers arrived, they located the defendant just outside the home and the female victim, Cecelia Yakubu, 58, obviously deceased, in the bedroom.

The defendant was arrested and arraigned later that day in Malden District Court where District Court Judge Domenic Paratore ordered him held without bail.  He was indicted by a Middlesex Grand Jury on September 26, 2012.

The case was investigated by Malden Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecutors assigned to this case are Assistant District Attorney Beth Dunigan and Assistant District Attorney Bethany Stevens.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Rebecca Auld.   The Paralegal is Greg LaJoie.
