Lowell Man Found Guilty For Four Child Abuse Charges

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced today that David Homen, 49, of Lowell, was found guilty in connection with the sexual abuse of a child dating back to 2000, during which time he shared a home with the child’s family.

Following a five-day trial in Lowell Superior Court, a Middlesex Superior Court jury found the defendant guilty on two counts of rape of a child by force and two counts of indecent assault and battery of a child under 14 years old.

Middlesex Superior Court Judge Maureen Hogan scheduled sentencing for October 27 at 3 p.m.

“This defendant has been held accountable for actions that no child should endure,” said District Attorney Ryan. “He had access to this child because they lived together for a time. He took advantage of that and betrayed the family’s trust.”

According to authorities, the defendant inappropriately touched the child while she was sleeping, beginning in 2000 and over the next two years. The incidents started when the child was 11 years old and involved the defendant removing the child’s clothing without approval, authorities said.

An investigation was launched by Lowell Police Department after the child reported the incidents to a friend and to her mother.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Megan Williams. The Victim Witness Advocate is Theresa Corcoran. The Child Interview Specialist is Alicia Compitello.
