Lowell Man Charged with Murder in Lowell Fatal Stabbing

LOWELL – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor announced today that a Lowell man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of a woman found deceased in his apartment.
 
James Sheedy, 53, of Lowell, was arrested last night and charged with murder. 
 
The defendant will be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court.
 
According to authorities, at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night police responded to a residence at 255 Walker Street for a well-being check. 
 
When officers arrived, they found a woman with what appeared to be stab wounds, obviously deceased.  The victim has not been identified at this time.
 
Lowell Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the District Attorney’s Office launched an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the incident.  Through that investigation it was allegedly discovered that the defendant had stabbed the victim numerous times.  He was arrested near the scene.
 
These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
 
The case is being investigated by Lowell Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
