Lowell Man Arrested For Murder

WOBURN— Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent William Taylor announce that a Lowell man is under arrest in connection with the fatal stabbing of another Lowell man early this morning.
 
Luis Rodriguez, 36, of Lowell, was arrested and charged with murder.
                
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 7.
 
At approximately 6:16 a.m. this morning Lowell Police responded to a report of a stabbing inside an apartment at 23 Pratt Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered the door locked and no response. On entering the apartment, they found a male victim with visible stab wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of family.

Police also were called to another address nearby where the defendant was identified. He was taken to Lowell General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later released.

Authorities began an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. They learned that the defendant was a resident in the apartment where the attack occurred.

Lowell Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the District Attorney's Office are continuing to investigate.  
 
These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Suzanne Kontz.
