Lowell Man Arraigned Following Collision With A Police Cruiser

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced that Jeffrey Walsh, 31, of Lowell, was arraigned in Lowell District Court today on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a marked lanes violation, obstructing an emergency vehicle, and a state highway traffic violation.

Judge Daniel Crane released Walsh on his own recognizance and ordered the defendant to consume no alcohol and informed Walsh that he would be subject to random alcohol screens. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Thursday, October 1.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., today, Massachusetts State Police responded to a report of a two-car crash involving a Billerica Police Department cruiser on Route 3 North in Billerica. When State Police arrived they observed a damaged Billerica Police cruiser and found the defendant at the scene. 

The Massachusetts State Police investigated this incident.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
