Identity of Victim Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Reading

WOBURN – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan today confirmed the identity of the victim of a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred over the weekend in Reading as Jacob Goldberg, 89, of Reading.

“In the winter months the presence of snow and ice can be dangerous and cause numerous safety concerns,” said District Attorney Ryan. “This is a terrible tragedy and my thoughts are with the victim’s family at this time.”

On Monday, January 18, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Reading Police responded to a report of a pedestrian fatality at the intersection of Lowell and Bond Street in Reading. The victim was allegedly struck by a sidewalk clearer, and was transported to LaheyClinic in Burlington where he was pronounced dead.  The vehicle’s operator remained on the scene following the collision.

This is an open and active investigation and no additional information is being released at this time.
