Husband and Wife Convicted in Rape and Assault Case

LOWELL - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Oscar Sanchez and Luisa Osorio-Sanchez have been convicted in a case involving the rape and assault of a child.

Yesterday, a Lowell Superior Court jury found the defendant, Oscar Sanchez guilty of four counts of aggravated rape of a child, four counts of rape of a child by force, two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and one count of reckless endangerment of a child. The jury also convicted Mr. Sanchez’s wife, Luisa Osorio-Sanchez of assault and battery and reckless endangerment of a child. Judge Robert Ullmann will sentence both defendants on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in Lowell Superior Court.

“The victim in this case was repeatedly subjected to sexual and physical assault by the defendants,” said District Attorney Marian Ryan. “These individuals are guilty of preying on a child in their home and violating the victim’s sense of trust and safety.”

The jury found that in 2003 Oscar Sanchez began to sexually abuse the victim in this case.  Sanchez would enter the victim’s room under the guise that he was going to pray with her, something he and his wife Luisa Osorio-Sanchez often did.  Both defendants are pastors and were actively involved with their church. The sexual abuse by Mr. Sanchez continued for nearly a decade, and over that time Ms. Osorio-Sanchez knew about the abuse but did not intervene.  Additionally, she attacked the victim subjecting the victim to physical abuse including an exorcism.

The prosecutor in this case was Assistant District Attorney Marisa Tagliareni. The victim witness advocate is Andrew Lauranzano.
