Hudson Man Arraigned In Connection With Fatal Crash

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced that Scott Harding, 52, of Hudson, was arraigned yesterday on the charge of leaving the scene of a personal injury and death.

Judge David Locke set bail at $15,000 cash and ordered the defendant to stay away from, and not have any contact with, the victim’s family or any witnesses. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Friday, December 4.

On Sunday, October 11, at 5:52 p.m., Hudson Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Central Street and ApsleyStreet in Hudson. Authorities found the victim, William Schofield, 54, of Hudson, lying in the roadway, unresponsive with serious head injuries. A black truck had allegedly made contact with the victim as he rode his motorized bicycle on Central Street. The truck then allegedly fled the scene behind Central Street. The victim was transferred to UMass Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday, October 12.

This charge is an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

This incident is being investigated by the Hudson Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney Melissa Baima.
