Framingham Man Charged With Masked Armed Robbery

WOBURN - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Mike Sowa, 35, of Framingham, has been arraigned on a charge of masked armed robbery.

Middlesex District Court Judge David Locke has set bail at $50,000 cash with conditions of bail to include that Sowa stay away and have no contact with all witnesses in this incident including those individuals present at the Nosso Brazilian Convenience Store on Boston Post Road in Marlborough where Sowa was arrested. The next scheduled hearing in Sowa's case is in Marlborough District Court on Friday, May 8.

On Thursday, April 9, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Marlborough Police Department received a call that an armed robbery was taking place at a convenience store at 100 Boston Post Road. Police officers who responded to the scene were told that a suspect, later identified as Sowa, had entered the store and attempted to rob it using a handgun, (later determined to be plastic), and that the defendant had been wearing a mask over his face at the time. Officers say a group of men in the store had been watching a soccer game when they observed the owner of the store giving money to the defendant and subsequently, the men jumped on Sowa, wrestled the gun away from the defendant, and held Sowa until officers arrived.

This charge is an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
