Fatal Victim in Cambridge Construction Site Identified

CAMBRIDGE - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Cambridge Fire Chief Gerry Mahoney and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville Bard, Jr. have identified the fatal victim from a construction site located at First Street Garage in East Cambridge as Christopher Stuck, 56 of South Windsor, CT.

On March 2, 2021, at approximately 8:23 a.m., Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office were notified by the Cambridge Police of a fatal incident at a construction site. Preliminary investigation suggests that Mr. Christopher Stuck was allegedly removing the metal railings on a stairway located on the 4th floor of the building during a restoration process when the structure collapsed. Officers learned that Mr. Christopher Stuck fell and was pin between the fallen stairways and the second floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A second construction worker, a 41-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he remains hospitalized.

This case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who will determine the cause of death. There is no foul play suspected.

This is an open investigation being conducted by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Fire Department, the Cambridge Police Department.  The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is also conducting an independent investigation into this incident.
