Fatal Stabbing in Malden Under Investigation, Suspect in Custody

MALDEN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis have confirmed the investigation into a fatal stabbing that occurred this morning on Dartmouth Street in Malden.

At approximately 5:40 a.m. Malden Police responded to 911 calls reporting a stabbing.  Upon arrival police located a 65-year-old man in the parking garage of Pleasant Plaza Apartments suffering from apparent stab wounds.  First responders, including EMTs and the Malden Fire Department attempted life saving measures before he was transported to Melrose Wakefield Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The subsequent investigation revealed that the man, a resident of the apartment complex, was allegedly stabbed by a man who is known to him. The suspect is in custody at this time and there is no threat to public safety.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Malden Police.
