Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Acton Remains Under Investigation

ACTON — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Interim Chief James Cogan have confirmed that the woman struck and killed in Acton on January 23, was Irene Durand-Bryan, 66 of Acton.

On Monday around 11:45 a.m., Acton Police and Firefighters responded to a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle outside her home in the area of Concord Road near Alcott Street. Upon arrival Ms. Durand-Bryan was transported to Emerson Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Through an initial, on-scene investigation, officers determined that Ms. Durand-Bryan was struck by a vehicle, later determined to be a Ford van, that initially fled the scene. While investigators were still on scene, the operator, identified as a 60-year-old Acton man, returned and made contact with police.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Acton Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No charges have been filed at this time.
