Cambridge Woman Arraigned In Connection With Fatal Stabbing of Cambridge Man

WOBURN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas inform the public that Malia Gomez, 40, of Cambridge, was arraigned today on charges of with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, and armed assault with intent to murder in connection with the stabbing of Dana Robinson, 46, of Cambridge.

Cambridge District Court Judge Roanne Sragow ordered the defendant committed to the Worcester Recovery Center pending a competency evaluation. The next court date is February 21, 2014 for status.

According to authorities, at approximately 6:23 a.m. on February 2, Cambridge Police responded to an apartment building at 396 Putnam Avenue on reports of an unconscious man.

When the officers arrived they located the victim on the porch of the building, suffering from a stab wound. Cambridge Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office immediately began an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The victim was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston where he was later pronounced deceased. An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The investigation is ongoing. The incident does not appear to be random and the defendant and victim were known to each other.

These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutors assigned to this case are Assistant District Attorneys John McEvoy and Gina Kwon. The Victim Witness Advocate is Kristin D’Agnelli.
