Boston Man Arraigned On Domestic Violence Charge

WOBURN - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Patrick McCarthy, 35, of Boston, a Boston Police Officer, was arraigned today in Lowell District Court on a charge of assault and battery on a household member. Judge Ellen Cauloreleased McCarthy on personal recognizance with conditions the defendant abide by a restraining order, stay away, have no contact with and not abuse the alleged victim, and possess no firearms. The next hearing in this case was scheduled for Tuesday, September 29.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., last night, the alleged victim came to the station to report an assault. The individual told officers that the defendant threw her phone down a flight of stairs; threatened to throw the alleged victim down the stairs; slapped the alleged victim; and then threw the alleged victim onto the ground. Officers went to McCarthy’s residence and the defendant was placed under arrest.

The charges are allegations and the defendant is considered innocent until proven guilty.

This case is being investigated by the Tewksbury Police Department.

The prosecutor assigned to this case is Assistant District Attorney James Puritz.
