Ayer Male Arrested and Charged in Connection with Alleged Stabbing to 82-Year-Old Father

AYER – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Ayer Chief of Police William A. Murray have confirmed that Jeffrey Foresta, 49 of Ayer, has been arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over the age of 60 in connection with allegedly stabbing his 82-year-old father on February 27, 2021.

Jeffrey Foresta was arraigned yesterday in Ayer District Court. Judge Margaret Guzman ordered him to undergo a mental health evaluation. The next scheduled hearing in this case is March 19, 2021.

On February 27, 2021, at approximately 10:57 a.m., Ayer Police responded to a 911 call from a residence located at Littleton Road, Ayer. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, an 82-year-old male, outside the home suffering from an apparent stab wound. Ayer Fire paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

The officers learned that Jeffrey Foresta was allegedly armed with a knife and barricaded inside the house. Ayer Police attempted to make contact with Mr. Foresta but were unsuccessful. For the safety of Mr. Foresta’s family and nearby residents, officers called for additional support and a negotiator from NEMLEC SWAT. The first NEMLEC officers arrived at the scene and began negotiations with Mr. Foresta. NEMLEC SWAT were able to enter the home through the front door with a key provided by a family member. Jeffrey Foresta was ultimately taken into custody and transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center.

This remains an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and the Ayer Police Department.
