Statement Regarding Fatal Incident at Wynn Construction Site in Everett

EVERETT – Yesterday at approximately 3:00 p.m. the Everett Fire Department responded to the Wynn Construction site in Everett for reports of an unresponsive male. The preliminary investigation suggests that the victim, a 56-year-old male, was operating an excavator at the south end of the construction site taking apart a trench box when the incident occurred. The victim reportedly regained consciousness at the scene before being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.  

This case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the cause of death.

This is an open investigation begin conducted by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Everett Police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). As this death is not considered suspicious, and no foul play is suspected, no additional information will be released by this office.
