Pedestrian Dies Following January Crash in Central Square

CAMBRIDGE - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Branville G. Bard, Jr. have confirmed that the pedestrian involved in a January 13, 2018 crash in the area of 434 Massachusetts Avenue has died from injuries sustained in the crash.

At approximately 12:56 a.m., Cambridge Police responded to a crash involving a male, identified as Samuel Bixler, 29 of Cambridge, and the driver of a Toyota Camry in Central Square. Bixler was transported to Beth Israel Hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries on February 14, 2018. The preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle was travelling in the direction of Harvard Square at the time of the crash. The driver, a 35-year-old from Cambridge, remained on scene. No charges have been filed at this time.

This is an open and active investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, Cambridge Police and the Massachusetts State Police CARS Unit.
