Victim Identified in Malden Fatal Shooting

MALDEN - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis have confirmed the identity of Saturday’s fatal shooting victim as Daquelle Matthews, 22 of Boston.

On November 20, 2021, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Malden police responded to a 911 call reporting shots being fired in front of a 7-Eleven located on Salem Street in Malden. Preliminary investigation suggests that Daquelle Matthews allegedly had a brief interaction with multiple individuals in front of the 7-Eleven convenience store when one of them opened fire, striking Matthews. The nature of that interaction is subject of the ongoing investigation. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

On Sunday, November 21, 2021, the Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death to be homicide by gunshot wounds.
