Statement on Malden Murder

MALDEN – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis have confirmed an investigation into a murder that occurred last night in Malden.

On August 15, 2021, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Malden Police responded to a residence in the Edgeworth area for a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim on the sidewalk in front of the residence suffering from extensive sharp force injuries to his body and subsequently pronounced him deceased. Preliminary investigation suggests that two male parties, known to each other, were having an argument and the suspect, identified as Joshua Roush, 43 of Malden, armed with a weapon attacked the victim. Malden officers located the suspect inside the residence and after a special operations protocol and extensive communication were put in place, detectives placed him under arrest.

The incident is not believed to be random. The suspect will be arraigned in Malden District Court this morning.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police assigned to that office and the Malden Police Department.
