Charges Upgraded to Murder in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Everett

Third Suspect Arrested and Charged

EVERETT – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Chief of Police Steve Mazzie have announced that Luiz M. Perlera, 18 of Lunenberg, has been arraigned on the charge of murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Craig McDonald, 20 of Randolph, on Friday, October 22, in Everett. Mr. Perlera had been previously arraigned on the charge of accessory after the fact. Yesterday in Malden District Court, Judge Allen Swan ordered the defendant to be held without bail. The next date in this case is December 3, 2021.  

On November 12, 2021, a third co-defendant in this case, Andre Clarke, 19 of Randolph, was arrested and arraigned on the charges of accessory after the fact and witness intimidation. Judge William Farrell set bail at $50,000 with the conditions to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, remain under house arrest and stay away and have no contact with the co-defendants or witnesses. The next date in this case is December 8, 2021.

These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The prosecutors assigned to this case are Assistant District Attorneys Carrie Spiros and Caitlin Gemmill.
