What is MassReconnect?

MassReconnect is program that enables individuals who are 25 years of age and older to obtain a degree or certificate through any public community college.  The goal of the program is to better prepare MA residents to meet the growing needs of employers and emerging industries. The program provides access to the education and skills necessary to advance careers and bolster the workforce.

Who qualifies?

To qualify you must be a MA Resident that is 25 years old or older as of the first day of class. You must be a MA resident for at least one year as of the start of the enrollment term. You must meet the satisfactory academic progress according to the institution’s requirements and federal standards. You must have a GED or high school diploma, either from MA or from the state where you attended high school.  You may not have previously received an associate or bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

How to Obtain a MA GED?

To obtain a MA GED, go to: https://ged.com/ . Follow the steps to create an account, study, and then take the GED Test.

There are community colleges all over the state. Below is a list of each school and town:

What are some examples of programs that these schools offer?

Programs that are offered depend on the school.  All schools offer a range of similar programs like nursing, healthcare, business, accounting, and STEM.

What is the process for applying?

First, choose the school you want to apply to. Once you have chosen a school, submit an application to the school. You will also need to complete FAFSA.

What is FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The application is used to determine your eligibility for college-related financial assistance.

When can you apply?

The colleges have rolling admissions and there is no application fee.

Ability to help individuals apply?

Community college staff is available to support students with application and registration assistance. Staff is available to provide academic advising and tutoring. Also, there are wraparound supports such as student basic needs and mental health resources.

Can you transfer credits?

You can transfer credits from the programs to earn a bachelor’s degree. Existing college credits can often be transferred. You may have the option to apply existing experience and skills towards college courses and to earn credit for prior learning for work experience, military service, and professional certification and skills.

Are there remote classes?

Schools offer in-person, online and hybrid courses.

Are evening classes available?

Day and evening classes are available for students.
