Man to be Arraigned on Assault Charges after Officer Involved Shooting in Pepperell

PEPPERELL – Christopher Shuttle, 30 of Pepperell will be arraigned today at 2:30 p.m. telephonically from Brigham and Women’s Hospital on the charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer in connection with an alleged altercation with a police officer at his Tarbell Street home yesterday.

The preliminary investigation suggests that at 11:35 a.m. yesterday, June 25, 2020, two Pepperell Police Officers were serving a warrant of apprehension for civil commitment for Mr. Shuttle. The officers arrived at the location and identified Mr. Shuttle who was allegedly in possession of a large kitchen knife. Mr. Shuttle allegedly assaulted one officer with the knife.  In response, the other Pepperell officer discharged his service weapon striking Mr. Shuttle. Officers began first aid and Mr. Shuttle was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital and then transferred by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Both officers were transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center for evaluation. One officer was treated and released for injuries sustained.
