Lowell Man Guilty for 2009 Murder of Two Brothers in Lowell

WOBURN– A Lowell man has been found guilty in connection with the shooting death of two brothers in Lowell, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan informed the public today.

Timothy Brown, 25, of Lowell was found guilty by a Middlesex Superior Court jury in Woburn on charges of first degree felony murder (two counts), home invasion, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without a license.

Middlesex Superior Court Judge Sandra Hamlin has scheduled sentencing for tomorrow at 10:00am.

"This defendant has now been found responsible for the senseless murders of Luis and Hector Delgado,” District Attorney Ryan said.  “I commend the Massachusetts State Police assigned to our office and the Lowell Police Department, whose collaboration and hard work was responsible for ensuring that the defendant would be held accountable for his actions and for bringing justice to the families of the Delgado brothers."

At approximately 1:30am on October 23, 2009, Lowell Police responded to reports of shots fired at 7 Marshall Terrace in Lowell.  Upon arrival, authorities located two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The victims, later identified as Luis Delgado, 34, and Hector Delgado, 37, were transported to the hospital where they died shortly thereafter.

Lowell Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office immediately initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the victims' deaths.  Through their investigation authorities determined that the victims were shot during a home invasion and attempted robbery at their residence.  Investigators interviewed witnesses, obtained cell phone records and collected and analyzed ballistics and forensic evidence.  Thereafter, authorities charged Brown and 4 co-defendants in the shooting deaths.

In April 2012, Ariel Hernandez, 25, of Lowell, was also found guilty of murder in a separate jury trial.

The prosecutors assigned to the case are Assistant District Attorney Cara Krysil and Assistant District Attorney Kate Kleimola.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Dora Quiroz.
