Infant Death in Lexington Remains Under Investigation

LEXINGTON - Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lexington Chief of Police Michael McLean have confirmed that the investigation into an infant that died in Lexington on August 13, 2024 remains ongoing at this time.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Lexington Police responded to a Massachusetts Avenue daycare parking lot for the report of an unresponsive infant inside his mother’s vehicle. Upon arrival the child, who would have been one on August 31, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the child had never entered the daycare on the day of his death and that he may have been in the car for an extended period of time. The case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the cause and manner of death.

This is active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office and Lexington Police.
