Former Everett School Superintendent Frederick Foresteire Found Guilty

EVERETT – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie announced today that the former Everett Superintendent of Schools Frederick Foresteire, 79, of Everett has been found guilty after a jury trial of two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.

The verdict follows a three-day trial in the Malden District Court before Judge Emily Karstetter.

Foresteire was found guilty of indecently assaulting a 41 year-old female victim of Everett, multiple times in 2017 and 2018. The victim worked for him at the Everett Public School Administration Building. The allegations included that the defendant touched her buttocks on various dates in the School Administration Building where they worked.

“The defendant in this case used his position of power to victimize one of his employees, assaulting her and repeatedly making her feel unsafe,  uncomfortable and powerless at her place of employment,” said District Attorney Ryan. “Today’s verdict reflects our commitment to protecting this victim and to holding the defendant accountable for his actions.”

“I commend the work by our investigative team and want to remind all those in our community that we stand ready to assist those that are victimized,” added Chief Mazzie.

Foresteire was sentenced to 18 months in the House of Correction on one count with 90 days to be served and the balance suspended for two years. He was  ordered to stay away from the victims and witnesses in this case and to stay away from Everett public schools and their events.  He was also ordered to register as sex offender. On the second count he was sentenced to two year’s probation.

There are two additional counts of Indecent Assault & Battery pending against the Defendant, involving two other former female employees. The second case against the Defendant has been set for trial on February 15, 2023.

The Assistant District Attorneys assigned to the case are Carrie Spiros & Rohin Ohri. The Victim Witness Advocate is Claire Coen.
