Update: Luis Santos in Custody, Charged with Murder in Connection with Fatal Hudson Shooting

HUDSON – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Hudson Chief of Police Michael Burks have confirmed that Luis Santos is in custody after turning himself in to the Hudson Police Department tonight at 7:15 p.m.  Santos has now been charged with murder in addition to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm and armed assault with intent to murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Karla Rodriguez, 20, of Framingham, that occurred yesterday in Hudson.

Santos will be arraigned on Monday in Marlborough District Court.

The preliminary investigation suggests that Santos fatally shot Karla Rodriguez yesterday at about 2:00 p.m. in her vehicle on Howe Street before fleeing the scene on foot. Ms. Rodriguez was transported to an area hospital and then transported by medical flight to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester where she was pronounced dead early this morning. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Hudson Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the District Attorney’s office.
