Non-Fatal Bicycle Crash Under Investigation in Acton

ACTON – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Chief of Police Richard Burrows have confirmed the ongoing investigation into a non-fatal bicycle crash that occurred yesterday, May 1, 2022 at approximately 6:27 p.m. on High Street in Acton.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the bicyclist, a 74-year-old Acton man was riding in the area of High Street at intersection of Old High Street when he was struck by a Dodge pickup truck being driven by a 26-year-old New Hampshire man, that was travelling eastbound on High Street. The bicyclist was in and out of consciousness on scene and being assisted by civilian witnesses upon police arrival.  Upon arrival on the scene Acton Police, Fire and Maynard Fire Departments took over care of the man. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene. The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital where he remains.

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’ s Office and  Acton Police. The crash reconstruction will be done by the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS).
