MARLBOROUGH – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Marlborough Chief of Police David Giorgi and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Boston Division have confirmed that Colin Calabrese, 33 of Marlborough, was arrested yesterday after investigators executed a search warrant at his Highland Street home locating multiple illegally possessed firearms and ammunition.

Judge Meghan Spring ordered the defendant held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for October 20, 2021.

Yesterday morning, investigators executed a search warrant on the home of Mr. Calabrese after a multi-agency investigation into allegations that he had made several threats of various United States public figures, politicians, entities and law enforcement agencies online including a bomb threat to a major media outlet.  The defendant also allegedly made comments between June 2020 and June 2021 referencing the possession of several weapons, ammunition and explosive material.

As a result of the subsequent investigation authorities applied for and were granted a search warrant for the defendant’s home.  On October 13, 2021, investigators executed that search warrant and located several firearms including rifles, high capacity magazines and multiple rounds of ammunition that were illegally in the possession of Mr. Calabrese who does not have a license to carry.

Mr. Calabrese was placed under arrest without incident and charged.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Marlborough Police and Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and United States Postal Inspection Service.  The prosecutor assigned to today’s arraignment Maryrose Robson.
