Investigators Seeking Public’s Help in Connection with Death of Lowell Man

Massetti

LOWELL – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Lowell Police Superintendent Kelly Richardson are asking for the public’s help locating Anthony “Tony” Massetti, 53, in connection with the death of a 51-year-old man who was located last night in his Wilder Street home in Lowell.

Last night at approximately 5:09 p.m. Lowell  Police responded to a 911 call regarding an unresponsive male located in his house.  Upon arrival police found the victim on the floor with apparent trauma. The victim was pronounced dead on scene and the case was referred to the Office of the Medical Examiner who determined today that the cause of death was blunt force injuries and that the manner of death was homicide. Police have determined that Anthony Massetti, who is known to the victim, had been at the residence. Investigators now have probable cause to believe that Mr. Massetti is allegedly responsible for striking the victim during an altercation that resulted in his death.

Police are now asking the public’s assistance locating Anthony Massetti.  Massetti is believed to be homeless and frequently remains in Lowell. He has been known to use a bicycle to get around and is possibly in possession of one or more firearms. Massetti has a tattoo of “TONY” on his right bicep, Rolling Stones lips on his right forearm and a Dragon on his left forearm.

The preliminary investigation into this matter suggests this was not a random act; however the public should not attempt to approach Massetti.  Given his possible access to firearms, the public should consider Massetti armed and dangerous.

Members of the public with any information on Massetti’s whereabouts are asked to immediately contact Lowell Police at 978-937-3200 or Massachusetts State Police at 508-820-2121.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Lowell Police and the Massachusetts State Police detective unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
