Davanni Curran Convicted of 1st Degree Murder in Connection with 2016 Fatal Shooting of Trevor Washington

DRACUT – Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan and Dracut Chief of Police Peter Bartlett have announced that Davanni Curran, 25, of Lowell, was convicted today by a Middlesex County jury of first degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling in connection with the murder of 31-year-old Trevor Washington of Dracut on June 19, 2016 at a residence on Methuen Street in Dracut.

On June 19, 2016 at 4:30 a.m., authorities were dispatched to Methuen Street in Dracut in response to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival authorities learned that, during a party at the residence, a verbal altercation between Curran and Trevor Washington broke out. The victim subsequently left the party and was followed by Curran outside the residence where the defendant took a gun from his waistband and opened fire striking the victim in the back. When the victim fell to the ground Curran then stood over the victim and punched him several times in the face before fleeing the scene.  The victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital where he was pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound.

This incident was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Dracut Police. Lowell Police, Tewksbury Police, Fitchburg Police, the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), Middlesex Sheriff’s Office Inner Perimeter Security, the United States Secret Service, New Hampshire State Police, Hudson, NH Police and the Salem, NH Police also assisted in this investigation.

Judge Diane Freniere today sentenced the defendant to life without the possibility of parole.
