Body of Male Located in River in Lowell

LOWELL – The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Lowell Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body located today in the Northern Canal. Shortly after 1:00 p.m. today a passerby contacted Lowell Police after observing what appeared to be a body in the Northern Canal in the area of 145 Pawtucket Street. Upon arrival police located the body of a male and Lowell Fire removed him from the canal. The body appears to have been in the water for an extended period of time. This matter has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the identification. The investigation is open and ongoing at this time.
