Acton Man Arraigned on Multiple Charges in Connection with Alleged Sexual Assault on Children

ACTON – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Acton Chief of Police Rich Burrows have confirmed that Daniel Napier, 58 of Acton, was arraigned today in Concord District Court on ten charges in connection with past sexual assaults of two minor victims who are known to him.

Judge Lynn Brendemuel set bail at $10,000 and ordered the defendant to stay away from and have no contact with the victims or their families, to submit to GPS monitoring and 24/7 lockdown, to have no unsupervised contact with children under 16 and to not work or volunteer with children under 16.  The next date in this case is March 1, 2021.

The alleged sexual assaults were reported to Acton Police in November of 2019 after the victims disclosed to a family member that the defendant had allegedly touched them inappropriately on several occasions at his residence in Acton.  Upon confronting the defendant, he allegedly fled to New Hampshire before ultimately returning to his Acton apartment. After a subsequent investigation into the allegations, an arrest warrant was obtained for the charges of  aggravated rape of child, enticing child under 16 and eight counts of indecent assault and battery on child under 14.

The defendant was arrested on January 26, 2021 without incident at his Acton residence.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office and Acton Police.  The prosecutor assigned to this case is Radu Brestyan, the victim witness advocate is Joanne Szeto.

Due to the age of the victims and the nature of the allegations, additional identifying information is being withheld at this time.
