Stow Man Arrested, Arraigned In Connection With Tuesday’s Homicide In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM – Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Framingham Police Chief Steven B. Carl informed the public today that a Stow man has been arrested and arraigned this morning in connection with yesterday’s stabbing death of Jeffrey Weaver, 38, of Framingham.

Kevin J. Porter, 26, of Stow, was arraigned this morning in Framingham District Court on charges of first degree murder and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.  Judge Stoddard held Porter on $250,000 bail.

Porter’s next date is on July 22 for a status hearing.

“Thanks to the quick action of the Framingham Police Department, Massachusetts State Police and the Stow Police Department, we have the man we believe is responsible for this violent act,” District Attorney Gerry Leone said. “This is an ongoing investigation and we will continue to pursue justice on behalf of Jeffrey and the Commonwealth.”

“Due to the solid relationship between the District Attorney’s office, Massachusetts State Police and Framingham Police Department, this violent crime was solved.  The suspect, Kevin J. Porter, was in custody within eight hours of the incident. The assistance of the Stow Police Department was invaluable in locating and apprehending the suspect.  The ability of multiple Law Enforcement agencies to work as a task force to address violent crime is key to reducing and solving crime in our community.” Framingham Police Chief Steven B. Carl said. “It is important for the community to understand this was not a “random act of violence” the suspect and victim were known to each other.”

According to authorities, at approximately 11:54 a.m. yesterday, Framingham Police responded to 38 Gordon Street for reports of an alleged stabbing.  When officers arrived, they found the victim, Jeffrey Weaver, suffering from stab wounds.

Weaver was transported to Metro West Medical Center and pronounced dead.

Framingham Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office commenced a homicide investigation into the circumstances of the stabbing.

Based on that investigation, Porter was arrested last evening after police stopped a car in Stow that he was hiding in.

The investigation is ongoing.

These charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The Assistant District Attorney assigned to this case is Marian Ryan.  The Victim Witness Advocate is Helena Clark.
