Lowell Man Arrested In Connection With Wednesday’s Lowell Homicide

LOWELL – Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone and Lowell Police Superintendent Kenneth Lavallee informed the public today that a Lowell man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Denis Osorio, 28, of Lowell, on Wednesday evening.

Daniel Ortega, Jr., 26, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder and armed robbery. He will be arraigned on Monday morning in Lowell District Court.

According to authorities, at approximately 7:25 p.m. on April 30, Lowell Police responded to 247 Dutton Street for reports of an alleged shooting.  When officers arrived, they found the victim, Osorio, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Osorio was med-flighted to Boston Medical Center and pronounced dead at approximately 5 a.m. on May 1.
