Cambridge Man Arraigned On Gun Charge In Connection With Friday Shooting Death
CAMBRIDGE – Cambridge Police and Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone’s office informed the public today that a Cambridge man has been arraigned on gun charges in connection with the shooting death of Lucien Christalin, 18, of Brookline.
David Jean-Louis, of Cambridge, was arraigned today in Cambridge District Court on charges of possession of a firearm without a FID card, possession of ammunition without a FID card, and intimidation of a witness. Cambridge District Court Judge Jonathan Brandt ordered him held on $20,000 cash bail.
“We have charged four people, including Mr. Jean-Louis, with gun crimes and crimes related to their account of what happened,” District Attorney Leone said. “The defendants were known to the victim and all were together in the apartment where the incident occured. We are continuing to investigate this case to determine whether additional charges should be brought against these defendants or others.”
On Friday evening, Cambridge police received a 911 call reporting a possible victim being shot. Police responded to 187 Windsor Street, where they found the victim, Mr. Christalin, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he was later pronounced dead. A subsequent autopsy performed by the State Medical Examiner (ME) determined the cause of death to be homicide by single gun shot wound to the chest.
Cambridge Police and State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office commenced an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
As a result of the investigation, four people were arrested in connection with the incident, including Mr. Jean-Louis. The three others were juveniles who were charged with weapons-related crimes and crimes related to their account of what happened. Information on the juvenile cases will be kept confidential, per law.
Louis will next appear in court on March 10 for a pre-trial conference.
The case is being investigated by Cambridge Police and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. The arraignment was handled by Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Keeley. The victim witness advocate is Rebecca Auld.
